Chilli and Chutney enjoying the paddling pools! Chilli and Chutney enjoying the paddling pools! Sussex-based Grove Lodge Vets’ Worthing Carnival event is massive success for both humans & dogs Bathed in Bank Holiday sunlight, Worthing’s famous Steyne Gardens was the perfect venue for Worthing Carnival’s first-ever fun dog show with all funds going to Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice. Popular fun dog show classes included Waggiest tail, Most Handsome Male and Best Rescue, all judged by Grove Lodge Vet Marc Abraham with each owner paying a small fee to enter, raising a total of over £300 for Chestnut Tree House. Grove Lodge Vets, whose main 24 hour emergency hospital is in Worthing, surrounded by six local vet clinics, organised Worthing Carnival’s first-ever fun dog show and their team were kept busy all day; handing out balloons, free dog treats, and providing refreshing paddling pools for dogs to cool down in. Chestnut Tree House cares for children of all ages with life limiting illnesses, as well as looking after their families, and serves a huge catchment area encompassing East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire. Each class was so well attended. Everybody and their dog enjoyed themselves and we’ve already been asked back next year to do it all again! The Grove Lodge Team loved meeting all Carnival goers and we’re all extremely proud to raise these much needed funds for our friends at Chestnut Tree House.” Caroline Roberts-Quigley, Community Fundraiser for Chestnut Tree House, says “We are extremely grateful to Grove Lodge Vets for organising and running the Fun Dog Show at the Worthing Rotary Carnival in aid of Chestnut Tree House. “We receive very little government support, so rely on the kind and generous support of the local community. Over £300 was raised, which will give a child the chance to visit CTH for the day and enjoy our facilities and a range of activities whilst giving mum and dad a break from the daily care, including the opportunity to spend an hour benefiting from a swim in our hydrotherapy pool.”
