A solution to enable veterinary practices to make their websites accessible to clients using mobile phones and tablets has been launched by online veterinary information content company Vetstream. The company’s ‘Webpartner’ service builds and manages websites for veterinary practices. It says it is offering the new solution, called ‘Go Mobile’, in response to growing demand from clients for mobile sites.
Data from leading technology analysts* confirms that, within the next couple of years, the number of people accessing the internet from mobile devices will outstrip those using desktop PCs.
According to Vetstream, Go Mobile enables websites to be converted into a form which is easier to read and navigate from the smaller screen of mobile phones and other devices. It does this by identifying and prioritising the content that mobile users are most likely to require and by adding specific navigational devices to enable these users to access the information they need quickly. It also offers specific benefits, including providing a ‘click to call’ facility and the ability to provide GPS directions to the practice from wherever the client is using their device.
Webpartner is a communications service delivered by Vetstream, the specialist provider of online clinical veterinary information. It has developed websites for more than 250 veterinary practices across the UK and offers additional services including website management; specialist veterinary content and other marketing services.
Dr G Mark Johnston MRCVS, Managing Director of Vetstream, comments: “With almost 85% of the UK population now owning a mobile phone and the rapid rise of the iPad and other mobile devices, the way we use technology and, in particular, our internet browsing habits are changing quickly. The level of interest in mobile websites is increasing rapidly with many practices reporting that more than a third of visitors to their website are using smart phones and tablets to access it. As a result, they’re asking us to ensure that their websites are optimised, both for those viewing them via a PC and via a mobile device. We expect it to be an area of significant growth during 2013.”
