Chester Zoo provided the backdrop for a CPD-filled Symposium hosted by Northwest Veterinary Specialists.

It brought together more than 100 veterinary professionals for a day of presentations, including one from Professor Dick White, and a guided Ranger Tour of the Zoo’s grounds.

A number of specialists from Cheshire-based Northwest Veterinary Specialists also contributed to the presentations and CPD sessions, covering subjects such as feline ureterolithiasis, patellar luxation surgery and hydrocephalus.

“The event was a huge success and Chester Zoo proved to be a popular choice of venue, positioning the symposium in surroundings significant to the veterinary industry,” said Liz Cousins, hospital manager at Northwest Veterinary Specialists.

“It was a great opportunity to bring inspired people together to ensure we’re staying at the top of our game in both educating fellow professionals and working alongside them to provide care to pets.”

The event follows the recent re-branding of Northwest Veterinary Specialists and several additions to a number of specialist teams at the hospital.

Professor White, one of Europe’s leading small animal and soft tissue surgeons, gave a talk on Larnygeal diseases, including a 3D animated review.

“It is an exciting time for Northwest Veterinary Specialists, with several new appointments to our surgical and nursing teams, including a hospital rebrand,” added Liz.

“It was fantastic to have Professor White join colleagues Rachel Hattersley, Massimo Marscoli, Luca Motta and Turlough O’Neill from Northwest Veterinary Specialists to cover a range of talks,” added Liz

“We would like to thank everyone for their attendance and involvement in the event, including B.braun as our headline sponsor, and Jurox, Vygon, Prescott’s Surgical, Veterinary Instrumentation and Elanco.”
