Veterinary professionals seeking to elevate their skills and redefine their practice now have an unparalleled opportunity. Improve Veterinary Education has launched its groundbreaking 18-module programme in Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery, designed to meet the demands of modern pet care. Crafted by leading experts in the field, this comprehensive programme offers deep insights into advanced periodontal treatments, restorative dentistry, orthodontics, and complex maxillofacial surgeries, among others.

The programme will be delivered via a mixture of face-to-face theory and practical skills using real- life cases that can be immediately applied in practice.

The new programme is headed up by Alix Freeman DipEVDC European and RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Dentistry who has developed the course and says:

“This course will equip you with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to enable you to perform advanced dentistry and oral surgery procedures in practice. The tutors will enthuse you with their passion for dentistry and oral surgery. You'll be taught the most up to date and innovative treatments in a leading dedicated dental training lab with the best equipment and materials. You'll gain the confidence to undertake root canal treatments, jaw fracture planning and repair, oronasal fistula repair and oral oncologic surgery. This is the first advanced dentistry certificate of its kind in the U.K. and is sure to be very popular”.

Aidan McAlinden MVB, MSc, CertSAS, DipECVS, MRCVS Academic and Content Director from Improve Veterinary Education says “By employing cutting-edge techniques and equipment, such as digital radiography, endodontics, and periodontal therapy, veterinarians can now diagnose and treat a wide range of dental issues in animals, from routine cleaning to complex oral surgeries. The expertise which will be gained from this unique advanced programme will allow vets to provide the most comprehensive care for their patients, addressing not only the immediate dental problems but also preventing potential systemic health issues that can result from neglected oral health. For pets, advanced veterinary dentistry ensures improved comfort, better quality of life, and a longer, healthier existence, making it an indispensable component of modern veterinary practice.”

On completion of the programme delegates can achieve a prestigious General Practitioner Advanced Certificate in Small Animal Dentistry (GPAdvCert SADen&OS) from the International School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ISVPS).
