Internet Fuels VRCC Client Expectations

VRCC the Essex based Referral Centre and the only Private Centre able to offer Radiotherapy on-site has recently expanded and now occupies over 15,000 sq ft. This expansion has allowed VRCC to install a state-of-the-art 1.5 Tesla enclosed magnet (Human) MRI Scanner for its’ rapidly growing small animal case load.

Enclosed magnet MRI’s offer fast and unrivalled images but are very complex and hugely expensive machines to install and run. The 6 ton Magnet, permanently cooled by over £40,000 worth of Helium is fully enclosed in a copper lined room. VRCC’s total MRI installation weighs in at over 30 tons but installation took less than 3 months to complete.

Practice Director Malcolm Holland says that “Fueled by the internet, client expectations are continually increasing when it comes to veterinary treatment for their Dogs and Cats. VRCC are now 1 of only a very few Centers in the UK equipped with both a multi-slice CT and 1.5 Tesla MRI Scanners able to provide clients with the very best and latest diagnostic services on-site.

There is a large gap opening up now between the Centers that not only have the space and expertise to justify this type of facility but also the very large sums now required to equip and run such high Tec-equipment and the highly qualified and skilled staff to operate these scanners and interpret the images. We previously travelled off-site for our MRI Scans so our new 1.5T MRI on-site installation is already proving a speedy and cost effective addition to our service.”

As last year VRCC www.vrcc.co.uk will be exhibiting again at The London Veterinary Show where they look forward to meeting Veterinary Colleagues.
