Atherton & Wigan Cats Protection based in Leigh, Lancashire has been awarded a £500 donation from the UK’s largest pet insurance provider, Petplan.
Atherton and Wigan Cats Protection is one of a network of over 250 volunteer run branches covering the UK. It works to find good homes for stray and unwanted cats and kittens, and improve people's understanding of cats and their care.
Susan Phillips,Branch Coordinator at Atherton & Wigan Cats Protection said: “We are very grateful to receive the £500 cheque from Petplan. This year has seen so many people abandon cats because they have either moved house or they cannot afford veterinary bills. We are a large branch of Cats Protection with a network of fosterers who look after cats in their own homes, so this donation will be a great boost for the charity.”
Working with more re-homing charities than any other insurer, Petplan helps fund the care of thousands of homeless cats and dogs throughout the UK.
They offer four weeks free insurance to every owner adopting pets through the shelters it supports and also offers free insurance vouchers to visitors and supporters of the charities.
Each month a prize draw is held from all the insurance vouchers issued and one charity benefits from the prize fund.
Isabella Von Mesterhazy, Head of Marketing at Petplan commented: “We are pleased to be able to provide this donation to Atherton & Wigan Cats Protection, they do a fantastic job caring for cats in the community. We also understand what a difficult time it can be re-homing an animal and are glad to offer new owners four weeks free cover to give them this extra peace of mind during the first few weeks of their pet’s life in a new environment. Having your pet insured is an important part of taking care of its future health.”
Petplan is committed to aiding the valuable work that re-homing shelters do. Charities such as Battersea, Blue Cross and Dogs Trust are just a few of those that have benefited.3790 views
