Lumbry Park Launches Advanced Dentistry Referral Service
Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists has launched an advanced dentistry referral service led by Dr Matthew Oxford, BVM&S, GPCert (SAS) MRCVS.
Dr Oxford, a European Certificate holder in Small Animal Surgery, is one of a small group of veterinary dentists in the UK. He has a special interest in the endodontic (root canal) treatment of teeth. Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists, based in Alton, Hampshire, is one of the most advanced, multi-disciplinary specialist veterinary hospitals in the UK and forms part of CVS’ rapidly growing referral network.
Commenting on the launch of the new dental referral service, Mr Ray Girotti, Hospital Director of Lumbry Park, said: “The increasing prevalence of oral and dental disease among dogs and cats and its potential to cause significant pain and infection, not just in the oral cavity but within the whole body, highlights the importance of advanced dental care. We are delighted to be working with Matthew. He will be accepting referrals for a range of dental problems, including fractured teeth, root canal treatment, prosthetic crowns, fractured jaws, oral tumours and orthodontics.
“In leading our dental referral service, he will work alongside our specialist teams in cardiology, internal medicine, orthopaedics, neurology, diagnostic imaging and anaesthesia to ensure that we are providing a full service and comprehensive approach to the care of our patients.”
Matthew Oxford added: “I’m excited to be launching a new dental referral service at Lumbry Park. The advanced facilities it offers, including the capability to work with specialist anaesthetists and to utilise the latest in-house 3D CT and MRI imaging equipment, make it a fantastic opportunity and I’m looking forward to working closely with my colleagues to deliver an outstanding dental referral service.”
Key to its success is CVS' ability to attract ambitious veterinary staff and to invest in their clinical skills, knowledge and in research to drive the profession forward.
