Medi Mark Logo Medichem International (Marketing) Limited – (Medimark) has been dramatically successful in ensuring their stock position and continuity of customer service, following the cancellation of their manufacturing arrangements without notice by Tristel Solutions Limited in late March. “We are enormously proud of our colleagues in marketing headquarters and the factory”, said Rick Hayman, MD of Medimark. “They’ve worked solidly from day one of this new programme of stock building, and have placed the company in a strong position to replace the old product range in record time. We started selling our new products on April 5th . There’s been a terrific response from customers, all of whom are doubly reassured because not only are their supplies guaranteed, but the quality of the new product range is significantly better. ” Medimark was one of Tristel’s biggest customers, spending around £2million annually on buying packed, market ready biocides from them. Rick Hayman explained, “During 2011, due to production quality issues, we agreed with Tristel to take some of our products away from them and organise the manufacturing ourselves. This proved successful for us, but our factory was seen as a threat by Tristel, leading to their decision to withdraw from our arrangement” Tristel will target Medimark’s 60% share of the veterinary biocides market in the UK with as yet unseen brands, but are likely to use their old technology biocide formulations, formerly supplied to Medimark. The new products from Medimark are based on modern formulations, which have no trouble meeting the environmental standards now presenting a challenge to many old biocidal products. Medimark cites twenty years of relationship building in the industry as a good springboard for the success of their new range. “The conventional way to get a quick and powerful market share is to acquire an existing player in the market concerned”, says Hayman, adding; “Tristel did make us an offer at the same time as they cancelled the manufacturing agreement. We did not invite it and we did not accept it.” The products previously offered by Medimark included well-known animal and medical disinfectants under the Trigene trade mark. Trigene and all the other trademarked products will continue to be available until further notice, exclusively from Medimark pending replacement by Medimark’s more cost effective, advanced biocide products. Medimark’s new product range will be introduced at BSAVA Congress, 11-15th April, Birmingham, UK
