National Poop Scoop Week 2011 - 25th July To 31st July

Dogs Trust is running another fantastic National Poop Scoop Week 2011, encouraging responsible dog ownership and reminding all dog owners to ‘Bag it & Bin it’.

National Poop Scoop Week 2011 is from 25th July to 31st July (but of course picking up poop needs to be encouraged all year round!).

Poop Scoop Week is a Dogs Trust initiative that takes place every year in conjunction with Local Authorities across the UK. Every year, Dogs Trust urges dog owners to pick up after their dog and help clean up our public spaces. While the majority of dog owners are responsible and pick up after their dog, a careless few are still giving dogs a bad name.

Dogs Trust are working hard to ensure a clean and safe environment for all the community- picking up after your dog is so simple and makes such a difference to where you live.

Each year thousands of complaints are received by local authorities about dog mess. In fact, MPs in Britain receive more complaints about dog fouling than any other issue!

Dogs Trust is now urging all dog owners to be responsible and where possible to ‘Bag it and Bin it’:

BAG IT AND BIN IT is a simple action plan everyone can follow…

BAG IT - Carefully turn the plastic bag inside out and your dogs mess will then be 'bagged'.

BIN IT - Dispose of your bag in a 'Poop' bin. Contrary to popular belief, dog waste can also be put into a public litter bin if a specific dog waste bin is not provided.

This year we are joining forces with the ‘dog owners of tomorrow’, by asking for help and support of schools in your area. We are urging schools across the country to put their ‘Paws up for Poop Scoop’ by spreading the word in their community. Please go to our website for more information www.poopscoopweek.co.uk
