Mr Ben Jacklin MA, VetMB MVetMed DipECVS MRCVS has been appointed Equine Director of CVS.  In this role he will lead the development and further expansion of CVS’ Equine Division, which includes 16 practices, including the Oaklands Veterinary Centre in North Yorkshire where he will continue to operate as Consultant Surgeon. He reports to Mrs Karyn MacKenzie, Director of CVS’ Practice Division.

After qualifying from Cambridge University, Ben undertook a surgical internship at Newmarket Equine Hospital, following by a period spent working with racehorses in Melbourne, Australia.  In 2011 he undertook a surgical residency at the Royal Veterinary College, after which he returned to Newmarket Equine Hospital as a Consultant Surgeon.  In 2015 he became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons and became an RCVS and ECVS-recognised Specialist in Equine Surgery.  Ben joined CVS in September 2015 as Consultant Surgeon and Clinical Director of Oaklands Veterinary Centre.

Commenting on his appointment, Ben said: “The Equine Division within CVS is undergoing exciting change and remarkable growth.  We have ambitious plans to continue this growth and to shape and improve the equine veterinary profession.”

Key to its success is CVS' ability to attract ambitious veterinary staff whilst continuing to invest in the development of their clinical skills and in research to drive the profession forward.  It also provides the business support to ensure its diverse range of small animal, large animal and equine practices achieve their full potential.   CVS' guiding principles include a commitment to excellence in all aspects of its work and a focus on building long-term relationships with its customers and suppliers.  The company works in close partnership with the wider veterinary profession and industry colleagues.
