If you sometimes struggle to get the message of SMART worming across to clients and customers, two new promotional items from Merial Animal Health will help. Part of an extensive range of educational and point of sale material available, the “Equine Worming: Fact or Fiction” leaflet and “Take a Stand Against Wormer Resistance” flipchart provide clear, concise information to horse owners. Just some of Merial's extensive range of point of sale material Just some of Merial's extensive range of point of sale material “Equine Worming: Fact or Fiction” is a really handy gatefold leaflet that will stack neatly in a holder by the till. It presents simple facts and dispels common myths around worming, with easy to understand language and diagrams. Covering topics such as the importance of pasture management, the simplicity of a strategic approach to worming and a discussion on the development of resistance, worming is presented in a clear, concise and simple way. “There are so many misconceptions about worming that we felt the need to produce this leaflet for horse owners,” says EQVALAN® Product Manager Claire Edmunds. “Worming is not difficult and parasite control is vital, but we need to slow down the rate of worm resistance, which is a real threat to the health of horses in the future.” “Take a Stand against Wormer Resistance” is a flipchart that provides more in depth information to help SQPs educate customers about anthelmintic resistance and the associated concept of refugia. This complex subject is clearly explained and methods of tackling resistance are discussed, to help you educate your clients about resistance. Topics such as refugia can be difficult for horse owners to understand unless explained correctly and in context, so this flipchart contains diagrams to help explain resistance, why it is important and the methods that can be used to reduce it. The flipchart presents three tactics to combat resistance: firstly, to treat each horse as an individual, secondly to use accurate dosing based on weight and girth measurements and thirdly to aim for control rather than eradication. Environmental strategies and a SMART approach to worming complete the package, resulting in a handy guide to help educate horse owners on the facts about worming. These two new promotional items have been added to Merial Animal Health’s extensive range of point of sale and educational material. With shelf edges, balloons and wobblers to guide customers towards advice, and badges, leaflets and flow charts to help customers discover which method of worming to adopt, the range will help demystify worming. All of these materials are available for your store or veterinary surgery, to help educate horse owners on aspects of parasite control that are usually seen as complicated and difficult to understand. To find out the full range of materials available and order your copies contact your Merial Territory Manager or call the Merial Customer Support Centre on 0845 601 4236.
