Norbrook Parasite Control Specialist Scheme
Norbrooks New Parasite Control Specialist Scheme Proves Popular With SQPs
The Parasite Control Specialist (PCS) Scheme from Norbrook has won acclaim from Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs) across the UK, with event attendees stating that they would recommend the initiative to a colleague.
The pioneering development scheme, which forms part of Norbrook’s ProCPD training, was launched in November during a two-day event at Barnsdale Hall Hotel in Rutland Water. Open to invited SQPs from trade stores and veterinary practices and with the opportunity to gain AMTRA points, the event covered best practice approaches to parasite management in livestock, horses and pets.
Learning practices across the course of the event took various forms, with lectures from Norbrook vets and guest speaker Lesley Stubbings of the ‘Sustainable Control of Parasites in Sheep’ group, interspersed with practical application exercises and interactive group sessions.
Attendee Mark Pass, a previous SQP of the Year award winner, summed up his experience of the initiative:
“I found the event very useful: there was a lot of attention to detail, yet the information was presented in an engaging and accessible way. The group session was particularly interesting as it enabled us to discuss our first-hand experiences of parasite control, and share personal tips and advice. Our day-to-day work does not tend to bring us into contact with other SQPs very often, so this opportunity for true peer interaction was very valuable.
“As an SQP, it is vital to stay up-to-date with the latest advice, products and best practice approaches. Courses such as this help to add status to the role of the SQP, which not only gives the SQP more confidence, but also the customer and local veterinary practices. The PCS Scheme served to refresh my knowledge and provide new information that I know will be useful for my customers.”
Chris Geddes MRCVS, Marketing Manager for Norbrook, commented on the positive feedback received.
“We are delighted with the response to the scheme; we intended to help advance the professional development of SQPs and provide them with the necessary tools and knowledge to excel as advisors, and it is encouraging to know that this has been the case.”
Norbrook plans to repeat the course in future. Places are very limited; SQPs interested in attending are invited to email [email protected] or speak to their Norbrook Territory Manager to register their interest.
