Paul Proctor BVSc MRCVS, Senior Partner Vet At Simply Horses, Has Joined Fabtek Solutions As A Veterinary Advisor

Fabtek Solutions is delighted to announce that Paul Proctor BVSc MRCVS, Senior Partner Vet at Simply Horses, has joined Fabtek Solutions as a veterinary advisor. Simply Horses is based on the borders of Durham, Sunderland and Tyne and Wear, and is a fully mobile equine veterinary practice. The team of vets carry out all examinations, treatment, investigations and diagnosis at the horse owner’s own premises, removing the need for transport. The practice offers vaccinations, vettings and investigation of medical issues, but also offers digital radiography, dentistry, ultrasound, micro chipping, stud work and a podiatry clinic, in addition to other services. It does offer a referral service in the case of advanced surgery. “We’re delighted to have Paul on board,” says Joy Coutts from Fabtek Solutions. “Both of our ranges but, in particular, the Meditek Silver range, are used and recommended by vets, so it seemed like a natural progression to work with Paul. He understands what makes our products different and how these can be used to help maintain a healthy environment, in the case of Mudtek, or to enhance healing rates when it comes to our antibacterial Meditek Silver range.” Fabtek Solutions’ two ranges use Zorflex, an activated carbon fabric that has a huge surface area due to its microporous structure. It has a permanent electrostatic charge that attracts bacteria towards it and holds them there, within the fabric, away from the substrate, until they die. This action is accelerated by the silver particulates that are fixed to the fibres of the fabric. Zorflex has been scientifically tested for antibacterial effectiveness. “We were initially asked to test both the Mudtek and Meditek Silver ranges,” says Paul, “and it all started from there. We use the Mudtek range to help to deal with mud fever and also as an aid to maintain a healthy horse distal limb, and the Meditek range as a wound dressing for helping to prevent and reduce wound infections in horses and as a dressing for more severe cases of mud fever and Lymphangitis. “These dressings were a revelation and very quickly became our first line of treatment in mud fever at our Equine Clinic. This then lead us to becoming involved with the Fabtek Solutions team, helping to introduce this highly effective set of dressings to the equine community.
