Pfizer Management Workshops Claim Industry First

London, 30 March 2011 – Pfizer Animal Health is running a series of ground-breaking continuous professional development workshops across the country in April and May. Run by Medicology, one of the leading providers of management training to NHS Health Professionals GPs & Consultants, this “industry-first” workshop programme will provide UK vets with access to the insight of an NHS change management supplier, taking external expertise and delivering sessions tailored to the vet industry.

The workshops are being implemented as a direct response to a specific request from vet practice principals and are expected to help drive growth through improved strategic leadership in practice.

Lack of management experience is recognised by almost a third (32%) of respondents in the recent Pulse Reportą as the greatest barrier to changing the strategic direction of their practice. It has the potential to undermine the most enthusiastic and committed of vets. The one-day workshops, which will be delivered at six different locations throughout the UK, have been created to enable lead vets and partners to develop their practice. Through the sessions, delegates will gain the confidence to ‘let go’, empowering their teams to deliver clinical and business excellence, to allow them more time to concentrate on moving the business forward.

Some of these attributes are inherent but much of it is a learned skill. It’s no longer enough to be a great vet, to realise the full potential of a practice and achieve growth, practice partners and principals must take a leadership role and through these sessions we hope that those who attend will leave with an improved vision of how to empower their practice teams to deliver growth, whilst at the same time also improving their own work-life balance.”
