Dale and Rags for Nags
World Horse Welfare’s Rags for Nags event at Penny Farm has once again been a success as £792 has been raised to help horses in need.
The amount beats last year’s total and means the funds raised from items such as old clothes, household textiles, shoes and handbags, will make a big difference to the care of our rescued horses.
Members of the public were urged to drop off their unwanted items to the Penny Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre near Blackpool during half term week (Saturday 11 – Sunday 19 February 2012) where we would then sell them to a textile recycling company to raise funds for our charity.
Visitor Centre Officer at Penny Farm, Zoe Clifford said: “We are really pleased with the amount of donations we received. In total, we collected 1320kgs which is 40kgs more than last year! We would like to say a big thank you to those people who had a good clear out at home and brought in their unwanted things. It’s a great way to help the environment too as the items are put to good use as they’re recycled.”
Penny Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre is open to members of the public every Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday between 11am and 4pm. To contact the farm for more information please call 01253 766983 or visit our website www.worldhorsewelfare.org1986 views
