Rescue Cat Of The Year Winners Announced At Prestigious Awards Ceremony

The eagerly awaited announcement of the winners of Cats Protection’s Rescue Cat of the Year Awards 2006 will take place on 6 July at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex.

During the ceremony, special celebrity guests including actor Anthony Head; TV presenter Kim Woodburn and author Lynne Truss will announce the four feline category winners and one overall Rescue Cat of the Year. TV vet, Scott Miller, will be the MC.

Cats Protection’s Rescue Cat of the Year Awards 2006 honour those felines whose stories of survival, fate, bravery and heroism have inspired the humans who love and care for them. The Awards, launched in February, were open to cats rescued as strays by their current owner or adopted from any animal welfare organisation.

“Cats are the UK’s number one pet so it is no surprise that these Awards have proved so popular again,” explained Julie Sharp, organiser of this year’s Awards. “The standard of the stories this year was extremely high and we are also delighted with the level of support we’ve received from many feline-friendly celebrities!”

The four categories in Cats Protection’s Rescue Cat of the Year Awards 2006 include:
  • Ultimate Survivor – Tales of feline survival after those nine lives have been spent.

  • Hero Cat – Cats that save the day!

  • Best Friends – Where a best furry friend has radically improved the quality of human life.

  • Most Incredible Story – Belief-defying, true stories. If only puss could talk!

The Rescue Cat of the Year Awards ceremony will be held from 1.15 pm to 2.35pm at the Copthorne Effingham Park Hotel in West Sussex.
