In January, Royal Canin announced its co-sponsorship of the 2015 regional CPD programme of business and non-clinical training events organised by the VPMA and SPVS. Following a successful start to the year, April will see two further courses hosted in Bristol and Daventry, entitled ‘Moving Up’ and ‘Facebook Focus’. The first session takes place on 15 April in Bristol, hosted by experienced business consultants from co-sponsor Zoetis. They will be giving insights into key leadership and management techniques benefiting veterinary nurses who are new to a management role, or who have aspirations to become a head nurse or practice manager. The ‘Moving Up’ course is equally suited to existing head nurses or practice managers who would like to polish up their management and leadership skills. A brand new course for this year, ‘Facebook Focus’ will help educate anyone with a responsibility for their practice’s online presence. With social media becoming an ever more important tool in any business, this course includes essential information about social media policy and how to maximise your online reach. Taking place on 30 April, the course will be hosted in Daventry and is aimed at practices that already have a Facebook page. Susie Samuel from Vet Help Direct will be advising on how best to manage online reputation and deal effectively with negative comments, with the opportunity to share experiences – both good and bad. Ian Williams, Veterinary Support Manager at Royal Canin, explained: “Following a successful start to the year we are delighted to continue our co-sponsorship of two further workshops in April. Running alongside our regular series of clinical webinars, the co-sponsorship of these business courses provides vets, veterinary nurses and practice managers with a wide offering to develop their skills and expertise.” Places on any of the planned events this year can be booked by calling 01453 872731 or by visiting www.spvs-vpma-events.co.uk. Workshops cost £265 for non-members and £190 plus VAT for VPMA and SPVS members (group/bulk booking discounts are also available). Cost includes CPD certificates, lunch and refreshments.
