Lindsay Calcraft Olympic toch bearer Lindsay Calcraft Olympic toch bearer Lindsay Calcraft, the Veterinary Marketing Manager at Royal Canin, has been selected from tens of thousands of hopefuls to be one of the 2012 Olympic torch bearers. Lindsay’s leg of the prestigious relay will be through Inverness on Saturday 9 June. The 31 year old, who joined Royal Canin five years ago with a Vet Nursing background, is an enthusiastic amateur sportswoman and was carefully selected to carry the torch in recognition of her dedication to cycling and encouraging more women to take up the sport. Lindsay is the secretary of her local bike club on the west coast of Scotland, Ride Leader for local outdoor and arts festival ‘Cowalfest’ and is actively involved in Diva Descent – downhill mountain bike coaching and racing for women only. Also a keen runner, Lindsay has completed three 10K runs and two half marathons, helping raise funds for Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary and regularly competes in women’s mountain bike downhill racing, inspiring other female riders to take part. Lindsay said: “I feel privileged to be part of such a special and unique sporting event and have the chance to run with the Olympic torch. Encouraging women to keep fit and feel part of a team through adventure sports and racing is a passion of mine, so to be recognised for something I love doing is a real honour. I’m looking forward to representing all amateur sportswomen as I carry the torch and will be looking out for my rescue Greyhound who will no doubt be cheering me on from the side-lines!”
