In 2012 Dechra Veterinary Products and Companion Care Vets announced they were supporting a three year scholarship in Rabbit and Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Edinburgh’s Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. This is now well underway and Head of the Royal Dick’s Exotic Animal and Wildlife Service (EAWS) Ms Anna Meredith MA VetMB, CertLAS, DZooMed, MRCVS has launched an online forum exclusively for Companion Care. Vets working for the group can submit questions and queries on exotic animal care, which will be responded to by Anna and Resident Jenna Richardson within 48 hours. Jonathan Niccol, Veterinary Surgeon and Joint Venture Partner from the Worcester surgery says, “To have access to this online resource is fantastic. I had a case of a rabbit with dry eyes that was struggling and the advice that came back to me in less than a day was invaluable. The level of detail was that of a full consultation and I would recommend that all of my colleagues here at Companion Care make use of the forums on a regular basis.” Huw Stacey, Companion Care’s Support Office Vet comments, “We are committed to supporting the veterinary profession in terms of funding research and providing CPD and to add this forum to our portfolio of clinical resources is excellent. We are very grateful to Anna Meredith and Jenna Richardson for working with us on this and know that their specialized knowledge and experience will benefit our vets, patients and clients immensely.”
