A leading manufacturer of unlicensed medicines (commonly know as “specials”) will be using the London Vet Show as a platform to showcase its veterinary manufacturing offering that supports veterinary surgeries that require an unlicensed medicine for an animal when there is no licensed alternative.
The Specials Laboratory (stand M77) based in Northumberland holds an MHRA license for Veterinary Specials Manufacture and is already working with veterinary surgeons across the UK.
Although the majority of its business is geared towards making human medicines that are delivered via over 7,000 community and hospital pharmacists, The Specials Laboratory has experienced an increase in demand for veterinary specials, which has triggered the launch.
Louise Vickers, Business Development Manager at The Specials Laboratory, said: “We are very excited to be making our debut at this year’s vet show and look forward to meeting veterinary surgeons and understanding their unlicensed medicine requirements while at the show.
“Over the last year we have seen more and more enquiries for The Specials Laboratory to compound veterinary specials and have managed to meet the needs of these new customers. It therefore makes sense for us to attend such a high profile show to officially launch our new service and hopefully in turn assist animals that are currently not receiving the ideal medication.”
The award-winning company prides itself on constantly delivering around 95% of orders within just 24 hours from receipt of order to delivery. Working to the highest quality standards, the company’s experienced team of pharmacists and technicians manufacture a comprehensive range of non-sterile products and can source sterile and imported products.
Employing around 135 staff across its three MHRA-licensed sites, the company was earlier this year crowned North East Manufacturer of the Year and North East Company of the Year across Northumberland & Tyneside.
