Veterinary professionals have welcomed a new Dechra Veterinary Products campaign launched at BSAVA Congress, aimed at tackling growing concerns over antimicrobial resistance.
The It's Time to Change campaign, developed to support general practitioners by providing best practice guidelines and information on ear disease in cats and dogs, saw more than 800 visitors to the company's stand at the Birmingham event.
Delegates were able to discuss dermatology cases with Referral Dermatologist, Sue Paterson, during the event, as well as hear about support material and online CPD sessions. The campaign focuses on a three step approach to addressing otitis externa: Diagnose, Control and Maintain.
Senior Brand Manager at Dechra Veterinary Products, Larry King, said: “We were pleased to welcome so many delegates who were interested in why it's time to change. We were able to demonstrate our awareness of concerns over antimicrobial resistance and show how we can provide assistance in helping to diagnose the organisms associated with the infection, support in choosing the correct approach to control as well as help in educating owners to apply and use treatments correctly.”
A new website www.dechra.com/timetochange has been launched to coincide with the campaign which provides online CPD focusing on skin and ear cytology, presented by veterinary dermatologist Peter Forsythe.
Mr King added: “Otitis externa can be a challenging disease to manage. By offering a range of guidance and case studies from recognised experts as well as cytology and practical client information, this campaign offers tremendous support to veterinary professionals.”
Dermatology is one of Dechra's core areas of expertise and the campaign will run throughout 2012 as part of Dechra Veterinary Products' commitment to supporting vets and vet nurses.2320 views
