This year at London Vet Show (LVS), Platinum sponsor Supreme Petfoods has ensured that there is plenty on offer for those interested in small furries and exotics. The company has developed a series of innovative programmes this year that aim to raise skills and interest in treating small furries. That approach continues at LVS with two sponsored hands-on workshops. At 12.30 p.m. on Thursday 24th November, Molly Varga BVetMed DZooMed MRCVS and Wendy Bament RVN BSc (Hons) MSc C&G Exotic Vet Nursing, will deliver, ‘Rabbits - clinical examination and techniques including fluid therapy, drugs and assisted feeding’. The next day, at 3.30 p.m. on Friday 25th November, the workshop topic is ‘Rabbits: examining, medicating and formulating diets and interpreting X-rays revealing common conditions’. Although places at the seminar are limited, Supreme has arranged to film the sessions and they will be available to watch on-line free of charge after the conference. Delegates need only ensure they have their badge scanned on the stand, or enter the on-stand competition to win one of 20 prizes of three free ‘Graze’ healthy snack boxes to receive updates of all Supreme’s free CPD initiatives Another ground breaking project in 2011 for Supreme has been their ‘lunch and learn’ webinars which have provided vets and nurses with free CPD on the topic of small pets and those who register on the stand will receive all the latest alerts about future events. Supreme has also sponsored the post of exotic animal veterinary nurse at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, held by Wendy Bament. Wendy will be on hand on the stand with Supreme offering her considerable expertise to assist with technical queries about the veterinary care of small pets. The development of monoforage technology which has allowed the manufacture of a very high fibre nutritional food for rabbits, is sure to be a major talking point at the show for anyone interested in the health and wellbeing of small furries. Incorporated into the veterinary exclusive VetCare Plus range, the new format contains up to 34 per cent fibre. With the recent upgrade in fibre levels in Supreme Science Selective, to 23 per cent, Supreme’s foods benefit from the highest fibre levels of any concentrate rabbit food on the UK market. Another exciting innovation is Supreme’s new ‘Bunnies for Business’ programme. Not only does this initiative provide surgeries with the tools to develop the small pets sector of their business, but it will also be tracking financial and other measures to quantify which techniques really work to improve practice business models. There will be an opportunity for vets, nurses and practice managers to sign up to the programme at LVS. Come along to the Supreme stand and find out how the company is making big efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of small pets and also helping veterinary practices make small pets their big success story.
