As we reach the height of the itch season for dogs with pollen and other allergies, Zoetis’  new, eye-catching ‘Switch off the itch’ waiting room materials will highlight the problem of skin allergies and encourage dog owners to ask their vet for advice.

Drawing attention to the symptoms of allergic skin disease that owners should look out for during the warmer months, the leaflet, poster and notice board materials discuss some of the substances that dogs can be allergic to, how to manage skin allergies and what to look for in an itch prevention plan.

Produced to support Apoquel®, the new materials feature two dogs – Eric and Daisy – whose lives have been changed by the product: “We nearly lost Eric because of his allergies,” says owner Lesley Swallow. “After years of frustration and different therapies, which didn’t help at all, I thought we’d never solve the problem. Then my vet changed Eric onto Apoquel and he was like a different dog. His itching stopped overnight. The results have transformed our lives and Eric’s. It’s like the itch was just switched off.”

Apoquel is a fast-acting oral therapy for the treatment of canine pruritus associated with allergic dermatitis and the clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis. Its novel mechanism of action on the Janus Kinase (JAK) enzyme is specifically designed to target the pruritogenic and pro-inflammatory pathways involved in the itch cycle.
