Locum Button New Module graphic Locum work is a great way to gain a wide variety of experience, and to have a little more flexibility with work, but can be a little daunting. Well, ONCORE have a new module - 'The Successful Locum Nurse', which may be just what you need to offer you some advice and support before you venture into this area. The course is 2 weeks long, and is 100% online. It offers lectures on various topics, and exercises to help you with different areas such as the vital questions you need to ask your new practice in order to practice safely, and how to deal with the financial side of things. You study alongside other likeminded nurses, so have plenty of opportunity to share concerns, ask questions and share experiences. The course is run from ONCORE's bespoke and user-friendly 'virtual learning environment' and uses discussion forums to bring everyone together. As Jill, who is the tutor for this module says ' there is usually a mix of nurses on the module, some who already have experience of locum work, and some who don't; so it's a really good way to share experiences and for those with no knowledge to get some of those vital questions answered'. Jill has many years experience in practice, and as a locum, and in fact has just returned from a locum position teaching vet students at Ross University in the Caribbean! The module is in collaboration with A1 locums, who have many years of experience in the industry. Previous candidate testimonials can be found here The module is £40, and next run dates are expected in December and early 2014.
