TOLFA Nominated For Charity Film Awards

Tree of Life for Animals (TOLFA), an animal hospital based in Rajasthan, India, which was founded by a British veterinary nurse has been nominated for this year’s Charity Film Awards.
TOLFA is a registered UK charity and was set up in 2005 by vet nurse Rachel Wright who, after working on voluntary animal welfare projects around the world, decided to make a lasting difference to animals in a rural part of India by establishing her own hospital. In the eleven years since then, TOLFA’s hospital has tended more than 100,000 animals, neutered more than 18,500 dogs and vaccinated more than 22,000 against rabies, treated thousands of farm animals and set up a mobile clinic and education programmes for pet owners and children.
With the reduction in the cost of video production and the growth in social media, the Charity Film Awards have been created to celebrate the success of film in fundraising, to increase exposure of charity films and to encourage donations for good causes. The winning films are chosen first by public vote in two categories based on the size of the organisation. Members of the public are able to vote at http://www.charityfilmawards.com until 30 November 2016. A panel of expert judges will then choose the winners from each shortlist in January 2017. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in February 2017.
Commenting on TOLFA’s nomination, Paulette Hamilton, RVN and Trustee of TOLFA, said: “Our welcome video introduces viewers to our Animal Hospital and Shelter and we have also been nominated for two further films which tell the heart-rending stories of two particular animals. One of them, Lilly, and her siblings were attacked with acid and left to die. TOLFA rescued them. Sadly, Lilly’s siblings didn’t make it but, thanks to the dedicated veterinary care and love she received, Lilly, despite bearing life-long scars, is thriving today and will continue to live in the hospital’s peaceful sanctuary.”

In the coming years, we hope to extend our hospital, expand our education and awareness work and, if we can, open a second hospital in Rajasthan but all of these projects are dependent on fundraising so the exposure we gain through being nominated for the Charity Film Awards will be very helpful.
