Weight Management Team Shelley Holden, Hayley Jones and Louise Brennan Following the recent announcement of its brand new Weight Management Team, Royal Canin has appointed two further experts to complete the group of specialist advisors. The dedicated team – which is the first of its kind in the UK – will work directly with vet practices to help develop and improve their weight management clinics, client retention and product sales, as well as offering bespoke training on weight management. Shelley Holden will be joined by Hayley Jones and Louise Brennan, who each bring with them a unique set of skills to help tackle the number of overweight and obese cats and dogs in the UK. Hayley has been with Royal Canin for 11 years and had previously been fulfilling the role of Veterinary Business Manager, providing hundreds of practices with product training and support as well as advising them on how to run successful clinics and deal with challenging clients. With a Foundation Degree in Canine Behaviour and Training and currently studying for a BSc (Hons) Degree in Nutritional Science, Hayley’s theoretical knowledge combined with her hands-on approach in practice will prove an invaluable resource to veterinary staff. Having qualified with a Business Degree in Marketing, Louise was a Business Development Manager with several blue chip companies before exploring her passion for animal behaviour and nutrition and completing a BSc (Hons) Degree in Veterinary Nursing in 2007. Louise then spent three years in practice before joining Royal Canin in 2010. Her experience of both the veterinary profession and business development techniques will ensure she helps practices reach their full retail potential. Hayley explained: “This brand new team has a solid mix of skills and specialisms which will go a long way in supporting practices to enhance their own weight management offering. It’s fantastic that Royal Canin has invested in a team devoted to dealing with this challenging issue and, importantly, encouraging a focus on preventative weight management in practice.” Louise added: “The Weight Management Team gives practices access to something that’s never been done before and we are thrilled to now be rolling out our programme of support and training across the UK. Ultimately, we want to establish ourselves as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for vets and vet nurses seeking guidance on obese and overweight pets, on how to carry out thorough assessments and how to implement tailor-made treatment programmes to start tackling the epidemic of obesity in our cats and dogs.” In addition to working with practice staff, the Weight Management Team will also work with owners outside of the vet practice using Royal Canin’s brand new mobile weight clinic. They will be able to assist owners by raising awareness of obesity, educating them on the most suitable diets for their pets and offering advice on how to make simple lifestyle changes to make improvements to their pets’ health and wellbeing.
