Investors Bronze March 2013 Improve International, one of the UK’s leading private providers of veterinary CPD, has retained the Investors in People (IiP) Bronze Standard it first achieved in 2010. The company was one of the first in the veterinary sector to embrace IiP and has retained the Bronze Standard after a reassessment in January 2013 involving a series of in-depth interviews with the company’s management team and employees. Established by vets for vets, Improve International runs courses in a variety of formats in venues across the UK and Europe with tutors selected for their expertise in their field. It recently announced a collaboration with Harper Adams University College and the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies to offer a new PgC in Small Animal Medicine and Small Animal Surgery. IiP aims to transform business performance through people, providing a framework for key business areas with participating companies given support and tools to enhance their performance. They are then benchmarked against set criteria to achieve the Standard or the higher levels of Bronze, Silver and Gold. In achieving the Bronze Standard, Improve International is judged to be an ’advanced’ Investor in People. This award is achieved by just over 5% of Investors in People-recognised organisations in the UK, all of which have demonstrated additional evidence above the Investors in People core Standard. Jeff Pullen, the IiP specialist who carried out Improve International’s reassessment, commented: “IiP is as much about running an effective business as it is about people because if you have one, the other will follow. Retaining its Bronze Standard is a great achievement by Improve International and confirms that good practice is embedded throughout the organisation. During the assessment it was clear that everyone in the company has a clear understanding of its goals and strategies and is working together to achieve them. It’s a highly effective, well-led business but offers a friendly environment with a strong emphasis on the health and wellbeing of its staff. They are building from a position of strength as they move towards the Silver Standard.” Alison Babington MRCVS and Business Coordinator at Improve International said: “We were delighted to learn that we have retained our IiP at the Bronze standard. Being reassessed was an ideal opportunity to ensure that every member of our team was familiar with our strategy and objectives.  It has strengthened us as a business enabling us to provide the highest standard of service to our delegates.” John Telfer, Managing Director of Inspiring Business Performance Ltd (IBP), the organisation that delivers Investors in People for London and the South, said: “Improve International should be very proud of its achievement, particularly as the company has gone beyond the core requirements of the Standard. I hope other organisations will look to them as an example of what can be done when staff and managers work together.” Based near Swindon, Improve International was founded in 1998 by veterinary surgeons from across the UK, including a number of recognised experts. It provides high quality CPD in a range of formats for veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and practice managers to help them develop their skills and knowledge, using a combination of review lectures, case-based discussion and where, applicable, hands-on practical sessions For further information, visit www.improvecpd.com or call 01793 759159.
