Veterinary Deer Society Annual Conference - 2/3 November 2006

The Veterinary Deer Society is holding its Annual Conference and Dinner at the Moredun Research Institute, Pentlands Science Park, Penicuick, Midlothian EH26 OP2 on 2nd and 3rd November.

The programme, eligible for CPD, includes papers on the following subjects:
  • Bovine Tuberculosis – are deer over-regulated?

  • The development of DEFRA's wildlife health and welfare strategy

  • Developing a herd health scheme for deer – a discussion forum

  • 'Farms or Parks?' –how should the MHS administer the hygiene regulations? Some thoughts from within the fence.

  • An update on the effects of rifle shooting on deer

  • The national deer-vehicle collisions project and how to handle roadside euthanasia

  • An outbreak of salmonellosis in deer

  • The role of parasites in the regulation of Svalbard reindeer populations

  • Transmission of spongiform encephalopathies
