Veterinary Exhibition At London Zoo

Author: ZSL (The Zoological Society Of London)

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at London Zoo and Whipsnade Wild Animal Park? An enormous amount of work by our amazing Zoo Vets, that’s what!

Zoo Vets might need to treat anything from a giraffe to a fish and could face an emergency at any time. It is a demanding job and we are lucky enough to have one of the best teams in the world here at ZSL.

This brand new exhibition showcases the vets’ work in a series of 28 photographic panels. All are fascinating examples of the huge range of work the team undertakes, from animal x-rays and operations, to anaesthetic darting and rabies screening. The exhibition examines other subjects fundamental to good animal welfare such as diet, reproductive health, and immunisation. It also shows the close relationships our vets have with the keepers, who know their own animals better than anyone. The vets explain, for the first time, the challenges of treating some of the world’s most dangerous and exotic animals many of whom are threatened with extinction in the wild.

Come on down to London Zoo and take a look at this new exhibition to find out more about the unsung heroes of ZSL!

Zoo Vets is free to all Zoo visitors and remember, if you book online, you’ll save 10% on your ticket price.
