Jez Rose, the training and behaviour specialist to the KONG Company, has seen an average 200% increase since last year in registrations for his national education seminar tour, which starts in March. Mr. Rose said: “It is encouraging to see so many veterinary professionals attending to learn about scientific, results-based methods to manage behaviour problems seen in practice – I never expected the seminars to be this popular and the feedback has been flattering, so I’m delighted.” The seminars take place nationwide from Leeds to Southsea and focus on managing and preventing canine behaviour problems in practice. According to animal welfare charity the PDSA, 1.9 million dogs are left alone for longer than recommended every day. One of the most common problems seen by veterinarians is dogs who have developed a fear or anxiety of being left alone – often with secondary destructive behaviours as a consequence. Just one of the subjects covered by Rose in his latest seminar series. Mr. Rose recently released the latest in a series of free behaviour resources for vets and owners which shows in 5 steps how to teach a dog to like being on their own. Download this and the other free behaviour posters from the Free Training Resources page at www.JezRose.co.uk. For veterinary professionals the posters feature an area for personalisation with a practice stamp or logo. With 10 years’ experience presenting to organisations and individuals worldwide in his entertaining and insightful style, in this national 2012 seminar tour he will explain how to both manage and prevent predictable behaviour and temperament problems in practice - especially anxiety, fear and hyperactivity: significant "terminal illnesses" for dogs. He will also discuss the unbelievable ease of aggression prevention and how an understanding of the way in which dogs communicate can benefit your practice. Chris Tufnell, Director of Coach House Vets in Berkshire and committee member of the RCVS, says: "These seminars are a great learning opportunity, as well as very informative and engaging. A professional behaviourist giving an educated insight into canine behaviour and how to effectively manage it in veterinary practice is an important topic." Sponsored by Petlife International the seminars run from March to May. Each attendee will receive a certificate with CPD points attributed; a voucher to receive a free KONG product to the value of £20; licence-free behaviour resources for use in practice; a discount voucher for 20% off at online retailer dog & bone and light refreshments.
