Veterinary Thermal Imaging (VTI) is delighted to announce its sponsorship of Equine Management and Training. VTI first started working with Fred and Rowena Cook at Equine Management and Training two years ago, and they have regularly worked together since. “When Rowena made contact, her thoughts on ex-racehorses really struck a chord with me, as my first horse was an ex-racehorse” says Helen Morrell, Managing Director of Veterinary Thermal Imaging. “I liked the philosophy they used with the horses at Equine Management and Training, so I went to show them how VTI might fit into this. We looked at a few horses and the camera showed exactly what they knew to be the problem, or what they suspected. In fact, the thermal images were so conclusive that one horse didn’t require further x-rays, which saved the owner about £500. Our relationship has developed from these early days, with Equine Management and Training providing a training base for VTI’s thermographers, and we’re now working more closely through sponsorship.” VTI is the UK’s largest all species thermography service, offering a fully mobile, non-invasive thermal imaging service that can take place at the owner’s own premises or wherever the horse is kept. Thermal imaging can be used to assess training and management regimes, as a diagnostic tool, to monitor the progress of a condition and the efficacy of treatment programmes, as well as to visually illustrate saddle fit, hoof balance and much more. Equine Management and Training works with a range of horses, helping to back, school and re-educate horses from all walks of life, but mostly these equines take the form of ex-racehorses. In addition to providing a training service, Fred and Rowena also help owners of ex-racehorses, through Equine Management and Training, and through the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) helpline. “Many of the horses that we retrain come with issues that can contribute towards their general attitude, way of going and their ability to perform. VTI provides a holistic way to assess newcomers, helping to ensure that they receive the correct treatment from the relevant professional,” says Fred Cook. “Armed with the information that VTI provides for us, we can call on the correct people, or formulate the ideal working programme for the individual, helping to ensure the horse’s physical and mental well being. “We find VTI is an invaluable tool, and VTI comes to us, so there’s no transportation required, and no sedation either, means that it fits in with us. It’s so affordable too, and as the scans produced are such high quality and provide an accurate representation of what’s there, we can see exactly what structures are involved, and there’s no bias. We’re really excited to be working with them more closely.” “VTI is delighted to be sponsoring Equine Management and Training,” says Helen, “we see Fred and Rowena as shining lights in the work of equine care and management, and we continue to be amazed and delighted with the results that they produce from the horses that come to them. We’re proud to provide them with our services along with the expertise of associated professionals and their own in depth knowledge of equine management.” For more information on VTI, see www.veterinary-thermal-imaging.com, email [email protected] or call 0800 408 3891.
