Vetstream Launches Vetacademy: The Ultimate Online Learning Platform For Veterinary Professionals

Vetstream today announced Vetacademy, a unique subscription-based online learning platform for the veterinary market which is designed to provide a “one stop shop” for online Continuing Professional Development (CPD):
- Vetacademy is the first of its kind to offer a ‘department store’ of courses and modules from three of the world’s leading training and CPD providers on a range of clinical and practice management -related topics;
- It offers a structured route through the content of more than 50 modules on canine, feline, equine and exotic clinical topics which are then supported via direct links to five sources of additional clinical content: webinars from the TheWebinarvet; videos of more than 100 actual procedures from VideoVet, Vetstream Canis, Felis, Lapis and Equis clinical service(s), abstracts from CABI’s VetMedResource as well as online tutor support ;
- It enables delegates to track their progress via tests using Multiple Choice Questions as well as via self assessment cases from Manson Publishing;
- The platform also helps to manage course work, track progress, results and accreditations all within an easy –to- use learning management system;
- With a Vetacademy subscription, members will receive extra value such as CPD vouchers, discounts and additional support materials worth more up to £400 a year;
- Vetacademy is free for all Vetstream Canis, Felis, Lapis and Equis subscribers.
Course Providers
Vetacademy provides a database of 50 modules from 3 leading CPD providers: the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Improve International, and Elsevier. There is a broad spectrum of clinical modules available from Anaesthesia, Behavioural Problems and Critical Care to Reconstructive Surgery, Nutrition and Oncology plus new courses coming on business management, and many more. Vetacademy will continue to add more course providers on a monthly basis, providing the most comprehensive list of CPD modules – all in one easy-to use place.
Personal Desktop
The Vetacademy personal desktop contains everything members need to manage their CPD, including the courses they have signed up to. Members can also personalise their desktop to include a calendar detailing veterinary and course related events, an internal messaging/email system, bookmarks of important content and any specific clinical notes or comments they would like to include. Also within the personal desktop, there is a repository of information related to their CPD training, including:
- Course Material which is separated into easy to follow, step-by-step sections with several modules also having slides with narration, notes and an optional discussion forum with tutor input during the final week of the course;
- Vetacademy User Area which contains user guides, surveys and a dedicated Vetacademy Group on Vetsforum;
- Content with embedded links to Vetstream’s Canis, Felis, Lapis and Equis clinical content along with links to CABI VetMed Resource and PubMed to enable an evidence based approach;
- Multiple choice question and answers to test your understanding.
- Self-assessment answers and questions from Manson Self Assessment Colour Review books to take at the end of each module; and
- CPD certificates issues on completion of the course(s).
Vetacademy Subscription and Extra services
Current Vetstream Canis, Felis, Lapis or Equis subscribers will have access to Vetacademy free of charge and will receive a £75 voucher to put towards their first course module on Vetacademy.
The introductory offer for non-Vetstream customers is £15 per month for the first year of their Vetacademy subscription. The subscription will also provide a three month trial to Vetstream Canis, Felis, Lapis or Equis service(s) and VetMed Resource from CABI. In addition, new members will receive two vouchers worth £75 each to be used on Vetacademy course modules.
