Medivet's statement about the forthcoming Panorama program 'It shouldn't happen at a vets'

Panorama has announced this program, which will be aired on 22nd July 2010 at 9pm.

Medivet first became aware of the program on December 2009 when some of our clients complained that Panorama had contacted them, and in some cases they felt that Panorama was harassing them, with a view to obtaining their comments on video.

We contacted Panorama and they sent us allegations, which we answered as fully as we could. However, Panorama refused to show us any of their footage so that we could respond more fully. They also refused to further clarify their interpretation of the events they claim to have witnessed.

Consequently, we do not believe that we have been given a full right of reply and we believe that the program will not be objective and balanced, but may be sensationalist and negative.

This feeling has been strengthened by the feelings expressed to us by our clients. They said that they suspected that Panorama were not being fair and balanced in their making of the program.

We do not know what the program will specifically deal with, but we believe it will not be impartial and it will not reflect the views of the many clients who are happy with us.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our clients for their loyalty and support and to reassure them that we remain, as always, committed to providing our patients with excellent care, compassion and reassuring service.
