Webinar Puts Pain In Perspective

A free webinar takes place on 19th October at 8.30pm that promises to put pain in animals into perspective. The hour-long session will focus on post-surgical and more chronic pain.

Dr Jo Murrell, BVSc PhD CertVA DipECVA MRCVS, Head of Anaesthesia at Bristol Vet School, will provide a comprehensive overview on how pain can be managed in surgical patients, from assessing the level of pain, to how to use pain scoring tools and finally the use of NSAIDs to manage pain.

Gary Coxon, Technical Services Vet from Vétoquinol will be discussing something new in the field of pain management, soon to become available in the UK.

In the third and final segment, Kate White MA Vet MB DVA Dipl ECVAA MRCVS, European Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia & Analgesia, Associate Professor in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Clinical Sub Dean at Nottingham University Veterinary School will describe how pain can be identified in animals with osteoarthritis, taking into account factors such as owner recognition and the animals’ breed and temperament and how those factors influence how pain is expressed.
