The World Small Animal Veterinary Association has expressed its gratitude to Hill’s Pet Nutrition for its long-term commitment to supporting small animal veterinarians globally.  2017 marks the tenth year of Hills’ partnership with the WSAVA.  It is the global veterinary association’s most long-standing and significant industry partner, having invested more than $1.5 million in initiatives and projects to help increase standards of small animal veterinary care around the world during the last decade.

The WSAVA works to enhance the clinical care of companion animals globally, representing around 200,000 veterinarians around the world through 101 member associations.  Founded more than 75 years ago with an unwavering commitment to pet nutrition, Hills' mission is to help enrich and lengthen the special relationships between people and their pets.

Hill’s support underpins all aspects of the WSAVA’s work.  It is the major sponsor of its annual World Congress and a leading sponsor of the WSAVA Continuing Education (CE) Committee which provides learning opportunities to its member associations, particularly those lacking the resources to provide these themselves.  It is also a founding sponsor of the WSAVA’s Global Nutrition Committee (GNC), which enhances awareness of nutrition’s vital role and of the central role of the veterinary healthcare team as the expert source of information to pet owners.

Last November, Hill’s supported the WSAVA One Health Committee in hosting a unique symposium in association with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) entitled ‘Preventing Obesity in People and their Pets – a One Health Approach.’  This innovative event brought together more than 100 delegates with diverse backgrounds in human and animal healthcare.  Hill’s has also become of sponsor of the Dental Guidelines Committee – the WSAVA’s newest Committee which aims to raise global standards of veterinary dental care.

WSAVA President Dr Walt Ingwersen said: “Hill’s has been steadfastly at our side for the last ten years and its unfailing support has enabled us to significantly enhance the scale and scope of our activities as we work towards our goal of raising standards of veterinary care globally.  It has also enabled us to build a strong infrastructure in order to better meet the needs of our rapidly growing membership.

“We share a common commitment to the development of the veterinary profession worldwide and Hill’s’ support is the foundation on which much of our most important work is built.  At a corporate and individual level, its commitment to the veterinary profession has been unstinting.  They are a true partner and we couldn’t have done it without them.  Thank you, Hill’s."

Dr Marina Debernardi, Worldwide Director of Global Professional and Veterinary Affairs at Hill's Pet Nutrition, said: “Hill’s is proud to support the World Small Animal Veterinary Association. The work WSAVA does to promote the availability and quality of healthcare for small companion animals around the world is very much in alignment with our mission at Hill's Pet Nutrition. Together, we are transforming lives and helping to enrich and lengthen the special relationships between people and their pets.”
