I have worked as a veterinary nursing assistant for about 2 years in two different hospitals and one small practice. I have worked in clinics, wards and theatre as well as doing lab work and working in the dispensary area with medications. I can restrain animals for a number of procedures such as for bloods, euthanasia, microchipping, vaccinations etc. I can run blood samples, carry out urine tests and snap tests. I can also deal with repeat prescriptions, order stock for the hospital, deal with clients and so much more. I have a good knowledge of infection control. I currently work in theatre, sterilizing surgical equipment, packaging kits and surgical equipment, cleaning theatres, setting up theatre for procedures, helping to assist in getting animals ready for surgery, setting up the anaesthetic machine.
