This course is designed for nurses that want to advance their anaesthesia knowledge and skill set. Being confident in providing safe and effective anaesthesia and analgesia for our patients is a vital skill for veterinary nurses and now that anaesthesia monitoring is becoming more advanced and there is greater to access to monitoring equipment in general practice, there is an opportunity for nurses to further develop their skills.This day will cover how to plan and prepare for anaesthesia, how to safely carry out advanced techniques such as arterial catheter placement, IPPV with mechanical ventilation and advanced analgesia techniques. Anaesthetic considerations for patients that have specic diseases such as cardiac, renal and neurological problems will also be looked at.Topics to be covered include:Planning and preparation for anaesthesiaAdvanced anaesthesia monitoringAdvanced analgesia techniques including CRIs and regional & local anaesthetic blocksMechanical ventilationAnaesthetic considerations for specic diseasesCase based discussions on anaesethetic protocols
