Gastro-intestinal disease in dogs has been the subject of much research in the last few years, most notably in the role that gut microbiota has to play in the disease process and the impact that has on the diagnosis and management of both acute and chronic gastro-intestinal disease.This one-day course will include a review of recent literature to highlight the different approaches to common clinical presentations, treatment of acute disease and the long-term management of chronic enteropathies, which may challenge some long-standing beliefs.The course is designed to encourage interaction and trigger discussion on the clinical experience of the delegates.Topics to be covered include:Updates on research and evidence in canine GI diseaseAcute haemorrhagic diarrhoea: the current thinking on potential causes and treatment optionsGastroprotectants: what is the evidence for their use?Microbiota alterations: diagnostic tools and therapeutic optionsFaecal analysis interpretationThe role of endoscopyManagement of IBD
