This course covers the basics of veterinary anaesthesia and will be suitable for anyone who wants to refresh their knowledge those returning to work after a break, final year students who are preparing for their exams, clinical coaches helping students with anaesthesia, or anyone who needs a reminder concerning current practice. The course covers all the information needed to perform routine anaesthesia, from admittance to discharge of the patient. There will be a section on basic physiology of anaesthesia, as a means of introducing the topic. Different types of equipment, breathing systems and scavenging will be discussed, as will the use of intravenous fluids. Analgesic techniques such as constant rate infusions and the use of local anaesthesia will also be covered. Modules: Patient preparation. Anaesthetic equipment. Anaesthetic and analgesic drugs. Induction and maintenance of anaesthesia, including basic monitoring. Supportive therapy. Recovery and post-operative care. There are six modules, each module featuring a recorded webinar, notes and case studies (maybe dont say clinical cases as the case studies to do with equipment and fluids are not necessarily clinical, per se).
