Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Disease Theres more to this than we thought!Brachycephalic breeds have become very popular in recent years and represent a significant proportion of canine caseload. This popularity has highlighted the challenges faced by some breeds including brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS) and has stimulated debate both within our profession and in the popular press. One positive outcome has been stimulus for research in this area, which is already helping to improve our understanding and drive changes in the way we treat those affected by BOAS. Whilst there is undoubtedly much more we need to know; recent advances have provided sufficient insight to allow improvements to the way we approach these animals. This course will provide a detailed overview of BOAS including review of the diagnosis, treatment and perioperative care including both traditional techniques and newer options that have become available. The course will focus on a practical approach to the clinical situation and will be useful for any clinician with a significant brachycephalic caseload regardless of whether they would plan to perform surgery themselves.Topics to be covered include:Overview of BOASTechniques available to confirm whether BOAS is clinically relevant. In depth consideration of the main aspects of BOAS including review of surgical techniquesConcurrent conditions that often complicate these casesPerioperative managementOutcome measures and prognosiswww.centralcpd.co.ukwww.vet-ecpd.comCOURSE DATE:Thursday 3rd October 2019COURSE TIME:10.00am - 5.30pmLECTURER:Chris ShalesPRICE:£295.00 VATADDRESS:Manor Place, 204a Manor Place, Kennington, London.
