Obesity is an increasingly recognised issue in feline practice and vets and vet nurses spend a considerable amount of time advising clients about weight management for their pets. While dietary intake and energy output are obvious considerations, the influence of emotional health on weight issues is often overlooked.This course suitable for vets and vet nurses, will consider the importance of emotional health in the aetiology of obesity and in its management and consider how social and physical environmental optimisation can be used as part of a successful feline weight management service within general practice.Topics to be covered include:Normal feline behaviour and its relevance to obesity and weight loss strategiesThe impact of emotional health on eating habits and weight gainDiscussion of physical environmental factors which can be used to aid feline weight managementMethods to improve social environmental factors in the feline home
