Exotic species are becoming more frequently presented to both veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses, with the expectations of owners being incredibly high. The care of these species whilst hospitalised is dramatically different to the requirements of domestic species and can be a daunting task without appropriate training.This course will take you through the best possible ways we can hospitalise these exotic species to ensure their recovery, as well as nursing techniques that will allow treatment plans to be instigated with minimal stress and finally safe anaesthesia of these fantastic species.Topics to be covered include:Exotic essentials: husbandry, clinical examination and nutritionHospitalisation of small mammals, reptiles and birds How to provide an optimal environment and appropriate supportive care in first opinion practiceNursing techniques and correct handling of small mammals, reptiles and birdsCritical care, anaesthesia and analgesia of exotics
