This highly practical two day Masterclass will be dedicated to understanding and performing TPLO surgery.Day 1Half of the first day will be spent on theory and half on plastic bone exercises and templating.Day 2The second day will be dedicated entirely to cadaver surgery exercises including taking and assessing post-operative radiographs of the cadaver surgeries. These radiographs will be carefully critiqued to learn from errors and minimise surgical inaccuracies in the future.Topics to be covered:History and evolution of the TPLO techniqueCase selectionPre-operative templatingThe TPLO surgical procedure including ticksand tips to make as safe and repeatable as possiblePost-operative radiographs; assessment and critiqueManaging post-operative complications, plating and tips to make as safe and repeatableLearning Objectives:Understand TPLO theory, how to perform theprocedure safely, how to critique post-operativeradiographs, and manage complications.Required Delegate Attributes:Delegates should have intermediate experience of orthopaedic surgery including familiaritywith making osteotomies and internal fixation of fractures. Delegates should also be familiarwith stifle anatomy and surgical approach, performing an arthrotomy, inspecting and resecting meniscal lesions etc. Delegates should also understand fixation techniques including non-locking plates, compression and neutral screws, and locking plates.This course will be limited to a maximum of ten delegates.
