This one-day, case-based course is aimed at delegates with an interest in neurological emergencies. This will be an interactive course with case based examples and videos that will allow delegates the opportunity to neuro-anatomically localise and problem solve both common and not so common emergencies involving the central and peripheral nervous system. We will cover what can be done in both the referral and first opinion setting with the aim of providing delegates with the confidence and knowledge to deal with neurological emergencies in an effective manner.Topics to be covered include:Examining the neurological emergency and the decision making processSeizures including the management of status epilepticusIntracranial emergencies including head trauma, cerebrovascular accidents and infectious/inflammatory diseasesSpinal emergencies common causes of ataxia, paralysis and spinal painNeuromuscular emergencies
