Veterinary nurses are an integral part of these patients care; not only are they instrumental in administering chemotherapy and providing oncology nursing care, but they are also well placed to provide support and education for pet owners. As in human oncology healthcare, there is real scope for veterinary nurses to lead oncology services, ensuring all cancer patients receive gold-standard care. Our blended learning course is recommended for nurses who have limited prior experience and exposure to treating cancer patients. Access to online videos will provide an essential understanding of oncological nursing prior to coming on this one-day course. The one-day attendance course itself is designed to build upon this knowledge and further your skills and understanding in the diagnosis, treatment and care of our cancer patients.Topics to be covered include:Common cancers from diagnosis to prognosisOncological emergenciesThe chemotherapy visit: cat and dog friendly handling to ensure good outcomesPalliative & end of life careIts not just chemo other options to diagnose and treat cancerOptional online pre-course learning (4 hours of CPD), topics covered include:Health & safetyChemotherapy administration & care of the cancer patientOwner advice & educationPalliative care optionsOncology nurse clinics
