This two day highly practical course will cover the common abdominal surgeries encountered in general practice. Surgical protocols and theory will be covered during short lecture sessions whilst the majority of the course will be spent in cadaver-based practicals allowing delegates the time to gain confidence with these surgeries. This course is aimed at both delegates wanting to develop their surgical skills as well as those wanting to expand their surgical repertoire.
Topics to be covered:
Biopsy technique for liver, pancreas and abdominal lymph nodes
Surgery of the gastro-intestinal system – enterotomy, enterectomy, gut biopsies
Gastropexy techniques
Cystotomy and cystectomy
Tips for effective exploratory abdominal surgery
Tips for abdominal closure
