Eye related problems and diseases are common in any type of horse and pony and in one BEVA survey constituted up to 10% of clinical cases seen in practice. This 2-day highly practical course was conceived to help veterinarians from mixed and equine practice to learn how to systematically examine the equine eye and to provide a critical overview over the most important and common problems affecting the eye. The internationally renowned equine ophthalmologists involved with this course will cover all the topics through highly-illustrated lectures and case presentations and will go into detail discussing all currently available diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and options. Attendees will have plenty of opportunity to put theory into practice on live horses and equine specimens in small groups (2 – 4 vets). Each attendee will rotate through the following stations during the 7 hours of practical sessions: Common ophthalmologic procedures; Basic surgical techniques; Ocular ultrasound; Examination & Discussion of horses with eye problems; Pre-purchase examination case discussions.
