Cats and dogs commonly sustain traumatic dentoalveolar injuries (TDI). This course will provide the general practitioner with knowledge of the commonly encountered injuries and optimal management of these patients will be covered in detail. There will be a highly practical component, with a chance to practise; oesophagostomy placement, nerve blocks, mylohyoid intubation, and symphyseal separation cerclage. In addition, the materials for non-invasive jaw fracture repair will be discussed, including; acid etch, acrylic, wire and dental composites. Delegates will be able to practice maxillomandibular fixation techniques, as well as placement of wire and acrylic tooth-borne splints for jaw fractures.
