The field of equine endocrinology is currently undergoing a period of rapid development in our understanding of several common equine endocrinopathies encountered in equine clinical practice. This course focuses on a revision of the underlying pathophysiology of key equine endocrinopathies, and a review of the most recent literature on the diagnosis and management of these conditions.

The Speakers
Jamie Wearn (BVSc DipVetClinStud MS Diplomate ACVIM) Jamie graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney in 2003 where he then continued in internship in equine medicine and surgery. His path to specialisation commenced with a fellowship in equine medicine at the Hagyard Equine Medicine Institute in Kentucky USA in 2007 before a large animal medicine residency at Virginia Tech, in Virginia, USA graduating in 2010. He achieved large animal medicine diplomate status of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2010. Following this he returned to private equine practice on the Gold Coast before being appointed as the equine internal medicine faculty at the James Cook University. He is currently undertaking a PhD investigating the pharmacology novel antimicrobial delivery devices for intra-articular instillation in horses. Particular areas of interest of his in equine medicine include critical care of neonates and adults, endocrinology, antimicrobial pharmacology, ultrasonography and respiratory disorders.
