Duration: 2 hour(s)
Cost: £50

About this course
Are you correctly identifying horses with back and sacroiliac pain? Are you diagnosing it by exclusion or have you an objective and practical way of investigating it?

A certain degree of mystique and uncertainty surrounds many diagnoses of back and sacroiliac pain. This course will explore the anatomy, investigation and treatment of this multifactorial condition covering the back, sacroiliac and lumbosacral joints. We will focus on objective assessment, when to block, optimising your radiographs and how to ultrasound the back, lumbosacral and sacroiliac regions. The information will be highly practical and relevant to the equine practitioner.

Correct identification of pain emanating from the back and sacroiliac region is integral when deciding on the most appropriate treatment and consequently achieving the best outcome. Delegates will end the course feeling more confident in their diagnostic workup and, in particular in their imaging strategy using both radiography and ultrasound. The course is aimed at both recent graduates and more experienced practitioners who want to increase their confidence in handling this common presenting complaint.

The course will focus on ways to secure an accurate diagnosis, what we should do initially and during follow up assessments. Case examples will be presented to clarify the information.
